Buseth
We need help!
I received some postcards that had a photo "Buseth" which is still unknown.
AND - April 2007 I received emails concerning Buseth or maybe Trooien and I can not identify these people.
Click below for these postcards and the latest email and click on Contact Us if you can provide ANY help!
Connection solved - read the April 6th update below!
Maybe somday these relatives in Hendricks and Sweden will meet!
April 6, 2007 update!
Bo Eriksson sent the following email. I have provided his email address to Pat Buseth and hope that they will enjoy communications with their newly-found Scandinavian relatives. Bo's wife's lineage connects with that of the Johan (John) and Hans Buseth families through their uncle Johan (born 1738) who was the brother of Bo's wife's great grandmother Ingeborg (born 1824). But think of the following! Johan and Hans descended from lineage that lived at the farm Sorstu'u Trooyan. Phil and Trygvee Trooien descended from lineage living at the farm Nordstu'u Trooyan! Their ancestors were certainly neighbors.
Bo's email:
Dear Jim,
Yes, I have also the Singsas boka part III. On p. 388: 7. Johan, b. 1838, moved to Sveden (1860) and got married there.
Johan Svendsen, ( Svensson, Trooien) is the great grandfather of my wife, Barbro Svensson b. 1940. His sister
2. Ingeborg b. 1824 became the mother of Johan and Hans Buseth. Johan (Buseth) was also born in Trooien, Sorstuu, so he
was 6 years old when Johan Svendsen left home.
Since I found him (Johan) in Census 1910 with the Buseths in Hendricks many questions came into my mind. What was Johan Trooien doing for living between 1894 and 1911 in USA? Was he working on the Buseth farm? His ticket to Amerika was paid in advance, by whom? His original desination was Toronto Dakota. On the map from 1898 of Hendicks Township 112 North, Range 46 West there is plot on Section 25 dedicated to John Swenson, is he the same person as our Johan?
Also, is there somone who can confirm my findings concerning the two photos I forwarded.
And above all, I would like to find relatives in Hendicks who I could correspond with.
Hopefully Arche Buseth have answers to some of the questions.
I will try to send birthday gratulations to mr Archie Buseth from his ancient relatives in Sweden..
Regards
Bo
Where did they get the name Buseth?
The following is from the Singsasboka, page 442.
It states that the family was "husmannsfolk" which means they owned no land, and were what we would call tennant farmers.
Johan is #2, and Hans is #4 - both 'reiste til Amerika i 1883' (relocated to America in 1883)
They took their name from the farm Buset.
Note in the above document, their mother was Ingeborg Svensdatter from Trooyan Storstu'u.
That lineage goes back to its earliest documentation in the Singsasboka page 387 which follows:
So, here you have the earliest ancestors I have found for Hans and Johan. Olle Olsson born 1650!

Response from Paul Grande:
"Hi Jim,
Carl & Olina Eggen are in the Overlie Book that I gave you on page # D-15. I noticed on the postcard that it was addressed to Bonetraill, N.D. I don't know if Carl ever lived at Bonetraill, but his brother, John Eggen lived there. I think all of John's family live in Williston, N.D. area. John & Kari Buseth were parents of Carl Eggen's wife Olina.
Paul"
From Eirik Bogen:
Hi Jim,
Both Johan Svendsen (Swenson) Troøyen, Johan (John) Jørgensen Busetflott (Buseth) and Hans Jørgensen Busetflott (Buseth) (when he emigrated he used the name Nordløkken) is found in Singsåsboka. But I don't know what information you are looking for or if you already have gotten the information you need. If you think I might help you, please let me know.
Here are Johan (John) and Hans leaving Norway in 1883:
