Melby
Hans J.

As of Jan. 3, 2007, all I had on this site was the name above and I actually have no idea how I found the name, or who Hans J. Melby was, however, that may soon change.  This morning I received the following email and have answered it asking for more information on the family.

The website seems to have made the day for Merlin Melby, and his email to me certainlyl has made my day!  Lets hope we find out so much more now about this name!

Hello!  I just can't believe what can happen on the second day of the new year 2007 when a guy can't sleep and finally decides to get out of bed and go down to his study and to the computer!  What to do?  So I decided to type in my wife's name and see if she is on "file" or just someone who I have been married to since 1959! And who sleeps so peacefully by my side at the beginning of a new year.

So, I typed in Marlys Anderson Melby and up pops your site!!!!! Now I am really awake!  This is familiar ground for me.....Hendricks Minnesota.  I was born there on April 21, 1931!!!!  But NOT Marlys!   But soon I came across the Marlys name time and time again.....but of course, no relative! But a lot of other most interesting things.....Singsaas Church! Been there! Looking up the Family Tree.....where my great grandfather was buried.....went there during college break to take pictures for the family saga I had to write for Miss Gulbrandson's Norwegian 1 class at St. Olaf College way back in 1951!.....found the grave and added to my notes.....and my dad took me around that area which was close to where John Jacob Gunderson Melby came as a young man to make a claim in his new country......

ALL of this today, the second day of 2007, what a good way of starting off another year with our Lord! Praise the Name of Jesus!.....and thank you! for adding to my new year! This was great....even at 5:17 AM!!!!!!  Maybe won't be able to get back to sleep but I have enjoyed every minute of it.....

THANK YOU! AGAIN.....AND keep up the good work....

His love and blessing surround you and yours in 2007.

Sincerely, Merlin J. Melby
