Trooien*
I believe that Nils Pedersen Troøyen was one of the original Hendricks settlers - will have to confirm that. - note by Jim Winsness - my notes say:
Original Hendricks Settler
Immigrated 1869
Name used as a settler was Henry Peterson but he later changed it to Hans Digre.
None of the daughters married so the family branch is now extinct. Marit (born in 1881) was a school teacher. Christie and Maria (born in 1887) continued to live on the old homestead until their death. Christi was somewhat crippled up and Maria took care of her. They did a whole lot of weaving of rugs as a hobby and business. Maria seemed so full of vigor and it was a surprise to every one that after the passing of Christie, Maria ended in the hospital and passed away also in the matter of only three and a half months.
Kari Pedersen Troøyen was a single woman immigrant and she married Hans Pedersen Digre who was another original immigrant. He came through Houston County MN and she came from Winneshiek County Iowa and met when the wagon trains joined near what is now Mabel, MInnesota.
Update April 2004 - I have received and added the Trooien family line from the data received from Trygve and Phil and it was very consistent with that from Ingebright Digre!
Trygve and Phil Trooien are sharing their family history with the project and at this date, March 21, 2004, I am entering the data to the Hendricks Family Tree. However, I have completed Trygve and Phil's line and have created a "Genealogy Report" detailing the 9 generations of lineage going back from Phil's granddaughter Kjerstine Alyce Trooien. Much of the information was already provided by Ingebrigt Digre, but his data was not complete on the later generations in the US.
To see Kjerstine's ancestors, go to Ancestors of Kjerstine Alyce Trooien Note that in the report, the names are spelled as they were in Norway as the basis of the file was from Ingebrigt in Norway.
Nils P. Ole P., Peter b 9/9/1873 d 6/5/1947 was the second born child in Hendricks.
James Seligman, a descendant on the Digre line provided the following postcards which were to Peder Nilson Trooien who had married Petra Digre, daughter of Peder Pederson Digre and Marit: I don't have these people in the Hendricks Family Tree yet, but will hopefully work out the lineage with the assistance of James Seligman and Trygve Trooien.
