Ronning
January 22, 2005: In the Singsaasboka bind III published 1958, page 361 it gives the following information:
Hans Pedersen, born 1836 died at 74 years of age Married in 1856 to Beret Hansdatter Setereng, born 1833, died at 47 years.
Children: 1)Berit, died at 23 2)Per 3) Hans born 1862 emigrated to America married Gollaug Einarsdatter Nordlokkeggen 4)Guri married Svend Johansen Buset 5) Hans born 1867 emmigrated to America 6)Anne married Svend Hanssen Busetvold second marriage Jens Knutsen Hov. Far: Anders Olsen Storroslokken, Setreng (not sure how to translate the last part of that)
Looking at the first census record shown above, the name Gollaug was changed to Julia in the US.
From the document "Emigrants from Singsaas to America it shows that in 1887 "Hans Hansen Ronning, 25 years" and this has to be the 3rd child listed above, and the first on the census record.
From the same document for the year 1889: Arnt Anderssen Ronning, 61 years, his wife Barbro Pedersdt. 59 years, their daughter Berit 16 years, Hans Hansen Ronning, 20 years. This Hans Hansen Ronning is the second Ronning shown on the census above. The Arnt Anderssen Ronning was their grandfather who was really Arn Anderssen Bjerkli who took the name Ronning when he married into the Ronning family (page 360 of the Singsaasboka)
Therefore, in 1900, there were actually 2 Hans Hansen Ronnings in Hendricks - what became of the families descending from those children shown on the census record? And we need to document the ancestors of the family in Norway.
That's another challenge for this project!
